Flowers at Forest Glade Gardens

Is this Victoria's best kept garden secret? Just an hour out of Melbourne in the hills of Mount Macedon, you'll find the gorgeous historic Forest Glade Gardens.

This private garden is huge with endless beds of seasonal blooms, paths and nooks and crannies to explore. We visited at the end of summer when you could find dahlias, hydrangeas, sedum, lilies and rudbeckia. Every season offers a different botanical experience from autumn's falling foliage to spring's wisteria and summer's hydrangeas. In winter, you might get lucky enough to even enjoy snow over the lush foliage.

You could easily spend a few hours here. All year round, you'll find towering trees and grassy hills, odd ball statues, a bubbling creek and a hidden Japanese garden with stepping stones and bridges.
